Myopia Control

Is Your Child’s Prescription Getting Stronger Every Year?

If your child’s glasses prescription keeps increasing, they may need more than a stronger pair of glasses. They may benefit from myopia control, also called myopia management.

Myopia, or nearsightedness, means your child can usually see up close but has trouble seeing far away. Many parents first notice it when their child starts squinting at the board at school, sitting closer to the TV, holding screens close, or saying that faraway objects look blurry.

Traditional glasses help your child see clearly, but they do not always slow down the progression of myopia. Myopia control is different. The goal is to help your child see clearly while also helping slow how quickly their prescription gets worse.

At Lux Eye Exam Optometry inside LensCrafters at Cerritos Mall, we offer modern myopia control options including MiSight® 1 day contact lenses, low-dose atropine eye drops, and Essilor® Stellest™ lenses.
